Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Raza (A.S.), the 8th Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt, was born on 11th Dhul-Qa‘dah 148 AH in Madinah. He was the son of Imam Musa al-Kazim (A.S.) and Lady Najma (S.A.), a noble and pious woman known for her purity and devotion.
From childhood, Imam Raza (A.S.) was recognized for his extraordinary intellect, spirituality, and deep knowledge. Scholars, companions, and even rulers of the time acknowledged his wisdom. His life was a living example of patience, generosity, humility, and worship.
Imamate and Spread of Knowledge
After the martyrdom of Imam Musa al-Kazim (A.S.), Imam Raza (A.S.) became Imam at the age of 35. During his Imamate, he led the Ummah through guidance, teaching the true message of Islam.
He engaged in debates with scholars of all religions under the Abbasid rule. His knowledge amazed Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, and even atheists. These debates revealed the intellectual greatness of Islam through the Ahl al-Bayt.
