Biography of Janab-e-Fizza (AS)

Janab-e-Fizza (AS) was the noble and devoted maidservant of Lady Fatima Zahra (SA) and a respected companion of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). Belonging to the royal family of Abyssinia (Habsha), she was known for her piety, wisdom, loyalty, and extraordinary spiritual qualities. She dedicated her entire life to the service of the Prophet’s household.

Early Life

Janab-e-Fizza came from a noble lineage and was raised in an environment of dignity and morals. Later, she came to Madinah and was honored to enter the house of Fatima Zahra (SA), where she served not merely as a maid but as a loved and trusted family member.

Service to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS)

Her service was marked by deep devotion, humility, and love. Lady Fatima (SA) divided household tasks between herself and Fizza—each would work one day and rest the next. This unique arrangement shows the respect and affection the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) had for her.

Knowledge and Spirituality

Janab-e-Fizza was renowned for her extraordinary knowledge of the Qur’an. It is famously narrated that for twenty years she spoke only in the language of the Qur’an, answering every question with a verse from the holy book—reflecting her deep understanding and constant remembrance of Allah.

Role in Karbala

Her life journey continued with the children of Fatima (SA). She accompanied Imam Hussain (AS) and the women of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) to Karbala. She witnessed the tragedy, endured captivity, and supported Bibi Zainab (SA) with immense patience and strength during the most difficult trials.

Later Life

After returning from Damascus, Janab-e-Fizza lived the remainder of her life in simplicity and worship. Her final resting place is traditionally believed to be in Kazmain (Iraq), though some narrations mention other locations.
